Sriti Misra Fusillo

How does a scientist become an infant accessories line CEO/Founder? It takes hard work, a keen sense of style and a new baby.

Tired of cleaning her floors several times a day when her first daughter was learning to self-feed, and frustrated with the lack of quality and selection of splat mats on the market, Just Buzzin’ By CEO/Founder Sriti Misra Fusillo decided to take matters into her own hands and create one herself. Concerned with the dangers of PVC for children and the environment, and experiencing tremendous difficulty finding stylish baby products that were PVC-free, she realized that there was a void in the market for fashionable and functional non-toxic baby accessories. After months of researching various fabrics and treatments, sample testing and editing, she found a combination that worked effectively and met her stringent requirements.

The only child of parents who emigrated to the U.S. from India, Sriti was raised to value education, family and hard work. The determination and strength of her mother, Sue, has been the driving force in her life, especially throughout her independent years of education and career. Her background accomplishments include: B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology, M.S. in Bioinformatics, internships at America Online and The University of Arizona Medical Center, and staff research positions at The Scripps Research Institute and The University of California, Irvine.

While working as a scientist at UC Irvine, Sriti and her husband Chris were blessed with the birth of their first daughter, Sarina. At this point, Sriti decided to take the hardest and most important job she has ever had: becoming a full-time mom. After settling into the on-the-go mom routine and always looking for fashionable and functional products for her daughter, she realized the lack of non-toxic bibs and splat mats that were practical AND attractive. Sriti developed her ideas into a business by sewing products for friends, family, and local baby boutiques. After seeing local boutiques continuously sell out of her items and ordering in larger quantities, she soon was unable to keep up with the demand on her own.

Using her savvy entrepreneurial sense, eye for fashion and superior work ethic, she turned some of her personal investment profits into the capital needed to launch her Just Buzzin’ By baby accessories label.
