Marla Murasko - President of Special Mompreneurs

When we are young, many little girls dream about being Moms. How many we want, boys or girls, etc. However, how many of you dreamed about being the Mom of a special needs child? Probably none of you, I know that thought never entered into my mind.
Special Need Kids, Swankymom, Nevertheless, that soon all changed for me when I was four months pregnant. The ultrasound determined that my son had a heart abnormality that indicated the chances of him being diagnosed with Down Syndrome were a lot greater.

My life quickly changed on March 22, 2006, when I gave birth to my “special needs” son - Jacob. How overwhelming were all the feelings I was experiencing. I soon learned that his needs were now going to be my top priority. I wanted him to have it all. I was not going to use his “disability” as a reason that he could not try to led as normal of a life as possible. I documented my journey with him and published my first book “Jacob’s Journal – My Journey Home” available online.

As I juggle, the life of a special needs mom and a mom entrepreneur, I found there was a need in the special needs arena for an on-line support group, which targeted moms who have chosen to stay at home and juggle running a business while caring for their special needs child. Support both professionally and personally in one supportive environment, was missing for these moms. Therefore, I created Special MompreneursTMWhere we embrace Moms and all their special needs.
Being a mother of a child with special needs is a daily struggle with many rewards. Children are a blessing no matter what their “ability” is. When you embrace them “all” and their families, you will find that the outcome is overpowering.
